The NanoScience & Materials Industrial Affiliates program is designed to create strong bonds and partnerships between industry and two of the University of Central Florida’s major research centers: The NanoScience Technology Center (NSTC) and the Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center (AMPAC). Such partnerships are essential in realizing one of the five major objectives of the University of Central Florida: to be the leading Partnership University in the nation in the 21st century.
NanoScience Technology Center (NTSC)
The NanoScience Technology Center was created in 2005 and has pursued a mandate to create a multidisciplinary center of excellence to solve problems of regional, state, and national significance. The Center seeks to position UCF as an international leader in nanoscience technology by acquiring new knowledge, educating students, creating new breakthroughs in this rapidly evolving field, and in the process establish and nurture industry and research organization partnerships to facility rapid technology transfer.
Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center (AMPAC)
The Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center (AMPAC) was formed in 1998 with the overall mission to achieve an internationally recognized reputation for excellence in materials research and education by hiring outstanding faculty to teach and conduct leading-edge research; by providing unique, multi-user facilities; and by partnering with local industries in order to provide comprehensive solutions to complex technical challenges. AMPAC provides administrative and technical leadership to the UCF university-wide interdisciplinary Materials Science and Engineering program by excelling in the development, processing, and characterization of advanced materials, including structural, electronic, optical, and nano/bio materials. The overall goal is to achieve national and international prominence in targeted research and application areas that include energy, medicine and life sciences, microelectronics, optics/photonics, and nanotechnology.
NanoScience & Materials Industrial Affiliates Program
To aid in achieving these ambitious goals, NSTC and AMPAC created the NanoScience & Materials Industrial Affiliates Program to strengthen the bonds with ongoing and emerging applications within industry, and to become a major force in Florida’s and the world’s industrial community. Industrial corporations and businesses that are involved in the development or use of materials and/or nanoscale technologies, or foresee their company’s involvement in future applications and processes using these technologies, are encouraged to join our Affiliates program. Your membership will provide your company with many benefits and the resulting close connection with NSTC and AMPAC will positively impact our progress and our expanding education and research programs, and will help formulate and crystallize our vision for developments and applications in nanoscience and materials in the future.
