Ph.D. candidate Swetha Barkam is a winner of the 2014 Extreme Leadership Scholarship presented by the UCF’s Student Government Association. The $750 award is presented to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and service in school and their community.
Swetha is a member of Dr. Sudipta Seal’s research group. Her research focus includes interaction and application of nanoparticles in biology.
Recently, Swetha co-authored a paper with Dr. Seal and Rameech McCormack, entitled “Biocompatible Functionalization of Nanoceria and Retention of Catalytic Properties Post Ion-Particle Interaction.” In November, that paper was presented at the Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization Conference in Santa Barbara, CA.
