On April 4, 2017, the UCF College of Graduate Studies and the Graduate Student Association hosted the 14th annual Graduate Research Forum as part of the Student Research Week. Students from various UCF colleges exhibited their latest research and findings while receiving feedback from faculty judges. Cash prizes were awarded for best posters in each category

Angie Diaz

Angie Diaz, a Nanotechnology Masters student under the mentorship of Dr. Hyeran Kang, won first place at the Graduate Research Forum in the Engineering Category. She has also been invited to give a poster presentation at the Statewide Graduate Student Research Forum at USF. Congratulations Angie!

Mikhael Soliman

In the Engineering, Computer Science, Modeling and Simulation category, Doctoral student Mikhael Soliman won 2nd place for his poster titled “Zinc-based Treatment to Combat Greening Disease in Plants – A Nanoscale Study”. Mr. Soliman is in his 4th year in the Materials Science and Engineering PhD program and is mentored by Laurene Tetard, assistant professor in the Nanoscience Technology Center, Physics Department. We are very proud of Mikhael and look forward to his developing research. Congratulations Mikhael!

Nichola Castaneda

Nicholas Castaneda is a graduate student in the Master degree program in nanotechnology. Nicholas successfully defended his thesis on “Mechanism of Actin Bundle Assembly, Mechanics and Structure by Ion Interaction” on March 30, 2017. He has been accepted to the Ph.D. program in Biomedical Science at UCF to begin in Fall 2017. Nicholas also won a 3rd place at the poster session in the recent FL AVS 2017 meeting.
