The American Chemical Society Orlando Section recently announced the winners of its 2013 Section awards. Lei Zhai won the award for Outstanding Chemist. Zhai is an Associate Professor with a joint appointment in UCF’s NanoScience Technology Center and Chemistry Department.

The ACS Orlando Local Section represents seven counties in Central Florida. The growing Orlando section promotes public awareness of chemistry by being involved in community outreach programs and by working with students and teachers of chemistry and science.
