The implementations of our Nation’s Hydrogen Energy Roadmap as well as current National Security challenges require us to improve current sensing technologies. We investigate the science of porosity for semiconductors and their applicability for resistivity based gas sensors. A porous GaN substrate is created by etching and after metallization and preparation of a device, it shows sensitivity towards hydrogen gas. Such capabilities are currently under study.
